HOLIDAY OUTREACH Since 2003, Franklin's Promise Coalition has ensured that the area's senior citizens and children are not without for the holidays. In 2009, the TOY Project was began to unify the entire county. Since then over 600 children are provided supplemental gifts including books, toothpaste/brushes and toys. Thanks to Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida, FarmShare and local businesses, our most vulnerable senior citizens and their families are provided holiday gifts and food. THE TOY PROJECT & TOYS FOR TOTS Meeting Schedule: TBD Program Coordinator: Beth Brinkley, 850-323-0187 Collaborators: Apalachicola Bay Charter School, CareerSource Gulf Coast, Capital Area Community Action Agency, Head Start, Franklin County Schools, Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Florida Department of Health, FarmShare, America's Second Harvest, US Marine Corps Toys for Tots, and many local businesses to be listed soon. This year, The Toy Project Chair, Beth Brinkley, has secured official approval as a "Toys for Tots" partner. Children will be registered through area schools, head start programs and partnering agencies. Guidelines, dates and distribution locations will be announced soon. SENIORS' HOLIDAYS ON WHEELS Senior citizens participating in the Senior's Food Delivery program will be provided holiday baskets thanks to FramShare, Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida, and area businesses. Many thanks to the Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County for coordination and delivery of baskets. |
